I don't often work from photos at this time of the year, but I worked on this a little at a time. It is 11 x 15 and was done from 2 photos that I took at a favorite restaurant of mine in Manhattan. I combined them to give a "taste" of Carmine's.
Looks like a place I would love to hang out! I'll bet the food is out of this world! FABULOUS job, Joan. I'm often in need of photos to use since my 'art' time typically falls from 7 pm - I fall into bed! LOL LOVE this different side of you!
Lin - Thank you. I'm sure you would love the food. I started this in the evenings in the summer, when there was nothing on tv to watch. It was a lot of work...much more than I expected.
Mickey - Thanks. This was one of those that I just "had" to do.
I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage.
Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.

Hey, you are getting really good at this "people" stuff. :-)
