This is a 4 x 6 watercolor painted at the beach. I was attracted to all the yellow flowers blooming now that fall has arrived. It gave the dunes a somewhat different look.
And here I was thinking your were in Spain already. Instead you are painting right up to the final hour. This is beautiful, Joan. It reminds me so much of a little beach I miss near Sydney. I love the bird too.
I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage.
Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.

this is SO beautiful..and your yellows are superb! Thanks for the visits to my site too...I'm always happy to see you visited!
Robyn - Thanks. I did another one similar to this but larger when I needed to take a break from packing. We're heading off today.
Holly - Thanks. The dunes looked so different with the yellow flowers. I forgot that they pop out in the fall.
Joan, I hadn't looked for a while. These last few are just wonderful. I like the yellow, too. Unusual, you know I like blue. Ha.
Jo
Joan, I'm just about to tag you on my blog. Looking forward to those sketches from Spain!
This is lovely - it rally makes me want to go to the beach (sigh...)
Jo - Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing them.
Robyn - Thanks. I did quite a few little paintings in Spain, but Germany was a bit cold already for plein air painting.
Casey - Thanks so much for visiting my blog.
