4 x 6 ink & watercolor done in plein air at a farmstand on the east end of Long Island. I was sitting with the pumpkins in their display while I was painting. When I got up they replaced me with a giant pumpkin.
While I was working on this, a man came over to look and tell me how great he thought it was. He kept calling his wife to come and look, but she wasn't interested in anything except picking out her veggies. There were foreign workers who didn't speak English stocking the veggies. They came over to look and gave me a big smile.
Awsome work, Joan. Not an easy one to capture on the spot and you've done it so well. I had to smile at the thought of you sitting amongst the pumpkins. Very much looking forward to Sketches from Spain!
I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage.
Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.

What do people say when you are out painting like that?

There's that fun style again!
Thanks, Ron. It was fun sitting with the pumpkins and working.
