I did this for the postcard exchange on WetCanvas. It is 4 x 6 and I think it is my favorite card I did for the series. I'm working on a similar larger version of this. It was painted from a reference photo I had taken out at Montauk Point on the end of Long Island. We get some super sunrises here on the east coast.

JOAN! THIS IS MAGNIFICENT!!!!!! I LOVE THE COLORS!!!
Hon, if I ever get back up to NY -- let's plan on getting together!! My sisters are in E and W Islip!
Oh Yum!!!!! Delicious color. At first I thought is was another snow scene...having enough of that thanks...but no! It is a beautiful sunrise over the beach! Can't wait to see the big one. Really nice.
Lin - Thanks so much. Let me know any time you have plans to come up to NY.
Tracy - Thanks. No snow, although sand and snow do look a lot alike. The big one should be finished soon. I brought it to my sister's the other day for a critique. I just need to add a bit of warm tones to the sand.
This is really beautiful, Joan. Lucky WetCanvaser who gets this one. I look forward to the big version too - as well as that wonderful barn you painted recently.
What size are you painting now?
Thanks, Robyn. If I'm painting in plein air I usually paint on a 7 x 10 pad. The larger version I'm doing of the sunset is on a half sheet (11 x 14).
This is so lovely. I can't wait to see the large version. Popping colors!
Joan, this is so stunning. Gorgeous sky and loose bush and sand.
My golly Joan you've been busy. I like this one best of all the postcard ones - it's the perspective that gets me in.
