Lori
I don't do portraits very often, but last week I went to "Sketch Night" with a group of artists locally. I'm trying to sketch and paint things that are a challenge to me. I did a sketch of Lori, the model, and then tried her with watercolor pencils. The problem was that I didn't have colors that were right for flesh. It didn't come out too bad, but she's much prettier than my painting.

I think it came out pretty good, Joan. The skin and hair colours are very pleasing. It's great to stretch to try something new. Sorry to hear you are missing Italy - Venice is a beautiful city. Every time I leave I'm not sure if I'll ever see her again - and then I do! Hopefully so will you.
I was happy with the way this came out, even if it doesn't look too much like her. As for Italy, I'll just have to see Italy through your eyes until I can visit again.
