I did this 7 x 10 watercolor of the porch of a restaurant in Port Jefferson. I always love hanging baskets or pots of flowers. They give such color to any location.

- Joan
- I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage. Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.

I like this one a lot. So much detail. I am trying to learn watercolor. The ladies at my outing today said it is the hardest to conquer. Yikes!
Jeanne - I don't think it's that difficult. You need some basic skills like washes and blending, but then you just practice like sketching. You'll enjoy it.
