This is my first larger (11 x 14) painting for 2008. It was done from a reference photo I took in Maine over Christmas. I love the rustic, peeling effect of the red barn against the white of the snow. The barn belongs to my sister and her husband. They've done a lot of work on the inside of the barn, so I figured I'd better do a painting of it before they get around to repainting the outside.

Joan, this is really nice. I love barns and I love red. You did a lovely job on the shadows in the snow.
Hey! What's with the snow pic?! I wanna go back to Italy! Okay...so it's a nice painting, I'll give ya that...but I see enough snow around here, and will for quite a few more months. So, let's get back to the lovely Italian countryside! ;)
It looks COLD> I love the colours of the shadows.
Jo - Thanks. I love old barns too. I've wanted to paint this one for a while.
Tracy - You are so funny! Don't worry there will be many more paintings of Italy.
Wendy - Thanks. It was COLD. The zoom lens on my camera kept freezing when I went out to take photos that day. I had to keep warming it up inside my jacket. Ah, the trials of an artist...
This is lovely. You do a great job capturing the snow too.
I really like this barn. Funny how the door is right on the edge of the corner.
