Hydrangeas

I've always loved hydrangeas. We had them growing in our backyard as kids, but we always called them snowball bushes. This is 4 x 6 done sitting out in the courtyard of the hotel where I did the "Shady Gazebo" painting. It started raining before I got it as complete as I wanted...maybe that's a good thing.

Lin - Thank you. I wasn't completely happy with this, but I've always wanted to try hydrangeas. I just don't have any around that I can cut and bring home. Glad you're getting some well-needed rain.

You should have been with us on Thursday. We had live hydrangeas to paint. They are not easy, but you did a good job with those.

Very nice. It's funny how flowers that are kind of clumped are so hard to do. I find it hard to do geraniums so I paint the leaves instead.

It is also funny that whatever was growing around us when children we tend to feel comfort by them. We always had geraniums, cannas, and morning glories. And those are the ones I tend to paint most.

Beatufiul! I miss my hydrangeas. We had them at our other house but not here in our new space. Guess I'll have to remedy that. Your's make me envious.

Mickey - We'll have to get some one day when I come over. Thanks.

Jeanne - Thanks. If I thought they would grow on my patio without much sun I'd buy a pot and try them again. We always had roses, pansies, and hydrangeas in our yard.

Helen - Thank you. I love how they are different colors all the time!

I love the ethereal mood too, Joan. It's a lovely light touch and not a bad place to finish.

We are trying to grow hydrangeas in pots with no luck at all. As a child I was surrounded by them too and didn't appreciate them!

What a lovely flower you painted!! I always have hard time painting this flower in watercolor. I love how you do their petals. Just perfect.
