Self-Portrait
I'm bravely doing a month of portraits and self-portraits with a group on WetCanvas. I give portraits a try once in a while, but really need to practice more. Most of the ones I've done so far are sketches in pencil, but I did try this one in watercolor. I looks pretty much like me, and I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. It does leave room for improvement.

Hi Joan! What a pleasure to 'meet you! I think you did a fabulous job here! Me, I'm going at faces, very very very slowly -- like 1-2 times a year!! LOL

Oooh, how spooky, I just finished a quick SP in gouache myself before clicking on your blog.
Great job on this Joan, hope you'll be posting some of the others you do for the WC project.
Self portraits are so hard, first of all we see ourselves so differently than others do. So to do a self portrait and have to analyze yourself is so hard. I think you did a great job.
Lin - Thanks.Portraits aren't what I do best, but I figure I have to practice to get better.
Anita - Thank you. Strange that you did a sp too. If I do any others in wc I'll post them too.
Desiree - Thank you. You are right that we see ourselves differently. I've done so many sp sketches already for the thread that I'm sick of seeing my face. lol But I am learning a bit and trying to concentrate on the correct placement of features. (I know the eyes are too high in this one.)
