This is a 4 x 6 watercolor that I did at the beach last Saturday. It was windy so I was sitting next to the beach pavilion to block the wind. This couple looked so cozy sitting there that I had to paint this. Luckily I started with the people, because they weren't there for long. After they left I worked on the rest of the painting. A while later someone said "Mind if we look?" When I turned around it was the couple I had painted. They were surprised to see themselves on paper.

Did they recognize themselves? That must have startled you to see them right there. Good job.
No they didn't recognize themselves until I told them that they were the subjects. I made them much thinner than they really were, and changed the colors of their hats.
I really enjoy your work!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is practically in my back yard, but I haven't visited it for several years. I have a 30x40 portrait of my hubby and children feeding ducks at Mabry Mill.
