This was done soon after my trip to Italy. I was attracted to the texture of the wall and the lovely flowers. The bricks took a lot of time to paint. It is a 22 x 30 watercolor.

- Joan
- I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage. Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.

Joan, this is a lovely piece! I like the texture of the stone wall. The light and shadows of the flowers gives a very sunny feel to the work. Bravo!!
You did a really good job on this. I rally like it. The brickwork is great and you got the shadows of the flowers just right.
