Longview Estate

This is a 7 x 10 watercolor. I painted it at a historical estate. The house and it's shadows captured my interest. I couldn't decide which end of the house to paint, but decided on this end because of the garden. I'll have to go back and do the other end. It reminds me of an old New England house.

Oh it's a very nice one. It's so nice to have older houses as they have much more character. Joan if you ever want to use any of my photos on my blog, feel free. I don't know if you do any from photos. I have no problem with anyone from WC using them.

Anita, Thank you. I'm learning to do the shadows darker to give the painting more punch.

Jeanne, I love older houses too. They seem to have more character and more of an impact. Thanks for offering your photos to use. I do paint from photos at times, but usually from the thousands I take. I laughed when you went to the ranch and took so many photos. I do the same thing all the time.

Lori, Thanks so much. I'm learning that when I paint outdoors, I need to get the shadows in quickly before everything changes.

Sorry, but I was on my sister's computer when I responded to Lori's comment. The comment was mine, not my sister's (Michelle Himes). I couldn't figure out how to switch out of her blog name back into mine.
