Venetian Window

This ATC (2.5 x 3.5) was done with ink and watercolor. The reference was one of my own photos from Venice. I'm always attracted to windows and crumbling buildings. They have such character. In Venice you rarely see a balcony without colorful flowers.

OH -- BEAUTIFULLY DONE! I do am always drawn to those older buildings and doors, windows, arches of all kinds ... they seem to beg for entry to learn of the stories they hold. Great job, Joan!

I love what you've done here....such a simple composition, and the simple detail of the bricking. Plus..I love the slightly outlined parts w/pen....beautiful one, Joan!

Lin - Thanks so much. I especially love windows in old buildings. I'm sure each one is filled with many stories.

Jo - Thank you so much.Maybe it's an artist's thing with windows.

Holly - Thanks. The brick walls are so interesting in the old buildings. It's fun to try to get them on theses small ATCs.

You've captured a lot of sunshine in this little painting! Really lovely. What is it about old walls, doors and windows that attracts us? I love them too, and can't wait until I get to (someday, someday) go to Italy and paint them first hand.
In the meantime, I'll just enjoy little glimpses of it through your wonderful paintings!

Tracy - Thank you. I think it's the texture and color that's so applealing in old buildings. I'd rather paint a crubling house than a perfect one.

Lenore - Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing my work.

Ron - Thanks so much for your comment on my little works.
