Sunlight and Shade

This is my second painting of the historic house on the Longwood Estate on Long Island. It is a pre-Revolutionary war home. The last time I did the right side of the house. I plan to go back and do some of the barns on the property. This is 7 x 10.

Joan, very nice. Details without overdoing. :)

FANTASTIC, Joan!! I love the shadows here -- very very good detailing without fussing -- LOVE IT!

This is great. Nice that you can go visit it often. And it provides for more than one painting.

Jo - Thanks. I got a bit of a history lesson after doing the painting. The ladies who work at the estate took me on a little tour.

Lin - Thanks. The shadows wer so dramatic that I focused on them rather than the architectural details.

Jeanne - Thank you. It is a nice spot to paint. I plan to go back in a few weeks when the flowers in front of the house should be in bloom.

Ai - Thanks so much. When I first joined WetCanvas I read a tutorial on painting bricks. It helped a lot.
