These were also done in Key West. The first two are lovely houses I passed on the streets and was able to find seating to paint them. The 3rd and 4th are additional views of the courtyard at The Duval House.
ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE!! Such charming and inviting places, Joan ... and to think you managed all of these so quickly and so proficiently!! I BOW to you!!!
How long does it take for one of these? Very nice. Do the house owners ever catch you doing them like they have with Anita when she was doing the ones of houses in her area?
Lin - Thank you. None of these was done very quickly. I don't think I do anything quickly.
Jeanne - Each of these was postcard sized and probably took close to an hour. I've never had anyone notice when I was painting their house. The last time we stayed at this guesthouse in Key West one of the managers saw me painting in the courtyard and came over to comment. More often than not, people are too wrapped up in what they're doing to notice.
I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage.
Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.
