This is 4 x 6 and was done the other day at the beach. It is always a challenge to paint the ocean and sky in plein air on a sunny day. The paint dries almost as fast as you put your brush on the paper.
I couldn't agree more about how challenging it is to paint in the sunshine and heat! Love this, Joan ...! And the one below .. I really enjoy revisiting the Island thru your eyes -- thank you!
This one is wonderful. The figure, the sea, the way the legs disappear under the water. I would be very daunted by this subject and you have done it so well.
I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage.
Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.
