I don't paint glass very often, but I was doing this as a scavenger hunt item. The painting is only 3 x 5 . The perfume bottle belonged to my mother. There are a pair of them and she always had them on her dresser. Now they sit on mine.
I remember those. I haven't thought about them in years. It must have been pretty special to paint one of them. It came out really good. You definitely captured the feeling of "glass".
I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage.
Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.

Mickey - Thanks! I keep them sitting on my dresser just like mom always did. Some day I'll have to try her pink glass bowl.
OUTSTANDING, JOAN!!! I love the colors and transparency in this and the delicate way you've treated the bottle!! BRAVA! Happy 4th!
Lin - Thanks so much!!! It is a special treasure from my mom.
love this little bottle, great work in the glass. Lucky you to have such a treasure, and you painted it beautifully...
This is beautiful. It's very satisfying if you get glass right. I love also the wonderful watery shadows.
