Loire Valley - Part I

We rented a car when we were leaving Paris and headed to the Loire Valley. Our accommodations were upgraded to Le Cardinal, a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house in Amboise. It was beautiful! The first painting "Le Porte Rouge"(4x6) is of the front of the house. I just loved the red door! Our first morning brought some rain, so I hunted up a few things to do a still life painting and "Le Bon Vie"(4x6) was created. When it stopped raining I found a spot on the other side of the Loire River with a view of Amboise. "Chateau du Amboise" (4 x 6) was painted from the front seat of my rental car. I did miss having a painting chair with me!!

Joan, it's such fun to see these! Your red door is a great companion to my blue one ;D. It looks as though you had a fantastic vacation---it's hard to come down to earth afterwards, isn't it?

Lora - Thanks! It is hard to come down to earth after a trip like that. I do love seeing the artwork you created on your trips.

WONDERFUL experience and beautiful paintings, Joan ... what a great time!!! I know you must miss France as much as I miss Italy!

Thanks, Lin. I miss both of them and would go back in a minute!

I think we may have just stopped at the same spot. was it the bit where there was a slope down to the riverside?

You stayed at the Cardinal? Steven and Veronica are among my best friends, and I live about 2 minutes from that house. What a shame not to have known before you came!

What a shame you missed Casey, Joan but you did her town proud. That's an awesome achievement - the sketch of the castle. Beautiful!!
