I finally got my act together to do a painting for this month's Virtual Paint Out which was painting the Czech Republic using google street maps. I missed last month, and didn't want to miss two in a row. This is 7 x 10 done in watercolors and ink.
What a wonder this technology is, to be able to paint in real time a place half a world away. Your painting has a soft, mystical feeling to it that makes me want to see Prague for myself.
Joan, it is so wonderful to stop by your blog and "stroll" around the world. Your landscapes and flowers are amazing. The Rhodies in a previous post are just great.
Sue - Thanks. It is amazing how you can wander the streets in other parts of the world from your computer. But you will be traveling to France soon IRL!
Lin - The white building is what attracted me. It is such an odd shape too. Thanks.
Joan - Thanks so much!!
Sherry - I enjoy the VPOs! Thanks.
Jo - Glad to hear from you while you're "on the road." Thanks.
I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage.
Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.

OUTSTANDING! I LOVE HOW WHITE THE BUILDING LOOKS AGAINST THE SKY AND FOLIAGE!
Joan, you did a wonderful job on this, I also love the way your background makes the white of the house pop. Well done.
What a great point of view on this piece. Lovely work, Joan.
