A sunny day found me at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Oakdale yesterday. I love gazebos, even though I find them a nightmare to sketch with all those posts! This one had that lovely tree with the blossoms to set it off.
I couldn't agree more about gazebos -- but Joan, you outdid yourself with this one! SPLENDID!!! The colors, the softness of te foliage, the colors -- spring spring spring!! GREAT JOB!
Thanks, Mickey! It was a nightmare to sketch. I made it too tall for it's width, but I couldn't redo it. It was fun to paint outside with the trees in bloom. We have to get together for an art day soon.
I have always participated in the visual arts including watercolors, drawing and sketching, pen and ink, and photography. Since retiring from teaching I have devoted much of my time to watercolors, sometimes combining them with pen and ink or collage.
Watercolor is the perfect medium to capture the beauty that surrounds us. I love to travel, and sketch and paint wherever I go. Painting, especially on location, captures the spirit and life of the subject. I hope to continue doing that for a long time to come.

Thanks, Lin!!! It felt so good to be out with the trees in bloom. It actually feels like spring!!
I find gazebos a nightmare to sketch too, but yours looks terrific. Love the pink trees!
