This is about 6 x 8 and done in ink & watercolor. It was done for the April project in the Southwestern Art forum on WetCanvas. The reference was provided by my friend, Jo Castillo, who is a wonderful pastel & oil painter who lives in Texas. I love flowering cacti but they are rarely seen here in NY, so I couldn't resist painting this. Thanks Jo!

This is FABULOUS!! I LOVE how you showed just how glorious those flowers are!! GREAT JOB, Joan ....! Are you sure some of them won't survive the winter there?
Beautiful flowering cactus. I like how you did the spiny things too. I can almost feel them.
Lin - Thanks. From time to time I see cactus plants surviving here, but I've never see them in bloom.
Mickey - I thought of Fran's friend, Gwen when I saw this reference. Thanks.
You are most welcome. You captured the vibrancy of these and touched it off with the ink. Just lovely.
